RIDGEWOOD, N.J.– Rejoice movie lovers! The Ridgewood Guild Film Festival is back with three nights of movies created by local and international filmmakers .

Tony Damiano, the head of the Ridgewood Guild, estimates that 60-70 films were submitted. That number was narrowed down to around 42, which will be screened at both the Ridgewood Public Library and the Bow Tie Cinemas on East Ridgewood Avenue.

Corbin Brito, 11, of Ridgewood made history by becoming the youngest filmmaker in the festival.

His entry into the student filmmaker category – a short film entitled "Waiting Room" – will be screened Wednesday night.

Brito not only wrote the script, but he directed and stars in the movie, which is about a young car accident survivor who is traumatized by his memory.

"It's amazing in that aspect that he’s able to do all of that and come up with a film that was accepted in the festival," Damiano told Daily Voice. "It's an accomplishment in itself to make the cut. It says he has a bright future.”

Damaino hopes this inspires more young students in Ridgewood to participate, as the student category is "close to our heart."
