WAYNE, N.J. – Wayne-based Toys ‘R’ Us is planning to close 12 stores in New Jersey, including its store in Wayne and its Babies ‘R’ Us in Paramus, according to multiple media reports.
The store closings in the Garden State are part of up to 182 the retail giant is planning nationwide -- roughly one-fifth of its total, reports say.
"The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus," CEO Dave Brandon reportedly stated on the company website.
Going-out-of-business sales will begin in February with the most locations closing in mid-April, reports say.
