A low-pressure storm approaching the Tri-State area Wednesday will bring rain and potentially heavy downpours with mild temps.

Up to 2.5 inches of rain can be expected across Bergen and Passaic counties with temperatures in the high 50s Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Meteorologist Joe Cioffi warned of a possible cold front to follow with the chance of a thunderstorm.

An Arctic blast of air could close out the week causing untreated, wet areas and puddles to freeze Thursday night into Friday morning, as temps drop into the 30s, AccuWeather's Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said.

A low of 17 degrees is expected Friday night with temps in the 20s Saturday.
