Arctic Blast: Foot Of Snow, Super Low Temps Could Set North Jersey Up For 'Epic' Flash-Freeze

It's not so much the Thursday or weekend snow that worries meteorologists, but the possible flash -freeze that could slap North Jersey early next week.

Here's how local experts expect the weather to play out.

THURSDAY: Snowfall is expected to begin in Bergen and Passaic counties well after the evening commute -- possibly not until after midnight -- with temps in the high 20s to low 30s, AccuWeather.com says.

One to three inches of snow expected to fall into Friday morning, making for a slushy commute. Temps warm up to low 40s with sun coming out around 2 p.m.

SATURDAY: Snowfall to begin late afternoon/evening, with up to a foot to fall overnight Saturday.

SUNDAY: Snow will likely turn to sleet and freezing rain Sunday morning. Later, temperatures expected to plummet from the 50s and below the freezing mark, meteorologist Dan Zarrow predicts. Icy conditions ahead.

"Do you get the sense that I'm less concerned about the snow forecast than I am about the icing potential? I hope so," Zarrow said.

"Sunday's temperature nosedive is going to be pretty epic."

MONDAY: Get ready for dangerously-cold temps with highs in the single digits across the state, Zarrow said.
