Rise In Walking Pneumonia Cases Prompts CDC Warning
Cases of walking pneumonia have spiked significantly, especially among children, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning in a brand-new advisory. The agency said increases in M. pneumoniae-associated pneumonia infections began late this past spring, peaked in August, and have remained high. Despite a recall notice and multiple warnings from the Food and Drug Administration, Dollar Tree continued to sell applesauce pouches containing lead for weeks, federal officials say. The popular retail chain was issued a letter from the FDA this month regarding the WanaBana fruit puree pouches, distributed by Negasmart. 14 Young Soccer Players Hospitalized With Breathing Problems In Drew U HazMat Situation
Fourteen children were hospitalized with breathing problems after being exposed to higher-than-normal levels of chlorine during summer camp at Drew University Monday, July 18, officials said. The juveniles, participating in a soccer program for children ages 10 to 17, reported shortness of breath, difficulty speaking between breaths, nausea and general airway issues while in a pool at the Madison university around 12:20 p.m., Morris County officials said.
