Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Vehicle Crash At Busy Long Island Intersection

A 26-year-old woman was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash.

It happened on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at approximately 1:30 p.m. in  Stony Brook.

The woman, Mariana Debbe, of Miller Place, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic westbound on Route 347 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto southbound Nicolls Road, Suffolk County Police said. 

The Honda was struck by a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer being driven northbound on Nicolls Road by Deanna Lee Hermida, 23, of Ridge. 

The Honda then struck a 2015 Toyota being driven by Jose Salas, 63, of Brentwood, that was heading eastbound on Route 347 and making a left-turn to head northbound on Nicolls Road.

Debbe was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Hermida was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with minor injuries. Salas was not injured.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
