Watch: Tornado Touches Down In Jersey Shore Town Leaving Thousands Without Power

UPDATED: A tornado touched down in a Jersey Shore town Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service -- leaving thousands without power (scroll for videos).

The tornado was over Corbin City at 9:53 a.m., the NWS said. Ocean City and the surrounding area was placed under a tornado warning until 10:15 a.m. as Tropical Storm Isaias made its way north.

More than 72,900 Atlantic City Electric customers were without power as of 11:30 a.m., the outage map shows. Reports say nearly 14,000 Ocean City residents were in the dark.

NJ Transit temporarily suspended rail service systemwide Tuesday afternoon citing storm-related overhead wire and signal problems.

Outages were also reported across Monmouth County. There were widespread reports of trees and power lines down closing roads including Sycamore Avenue in Tinton Falls -- where poles and transformers also were toppled about 3 p.m. 

In Mercer County, power outages prompted Robert Wood University Hospital in Hamilton Township to divert incoming patients to other hospitals starting at about 1 p.m.

A Monroe Township firefighter was reported injured about 2:30 p.m. in Middlesex County. He suffered knew and ankle injuries on Gravel Hill Road, according to an initial report. EMS was called, but the cause was not immediately available.
