Inside his car were burglary proceeds and hypodermic needles, Hasbrouck Heights Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told Daily Voice.
Detectives from Hasbrouck Heights, Rochelle Park, Saddle River, River Edge, Hillsdale, River Vale, Wood-Ridge and Carlstadt formed a task force that followed Michael Martinez, 44, before taking him into custody, Colaneri said.
Hasbrouck Heights police immediately charged him with a Jan. 10 break-in.
Teaneck and Rochelle Park police were charging him tonight. Other departments were expected to do the same.
A judge ordered Martinez -- who records show has a prior record involving burglary and assault on police -- held on $50,000 in the Bergen County Jail.
His bail was expected to increase as various departments filed charges.
Colaneri thanked the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification on behalf of the task force "for their work in collecting evidence."
