"There's nothing criminal," Moonachie Police Sgt. Anthony Fugnitti told Daily Voice after the 45-year-old Lodi driver was interviewed at headquarters following the 6:15 a.m. crash on the highway's eastbound side.
No summonses were issued, either, he said, adding that it was an accident.
Miguel Fabian was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk when he was struck by the S10 at an estimated 30 miles an hour east of Industrial Avenue outside Teterboro Airport, Fugnitti said.
A second crash occurred an hour or so later during rubbernecking on the westbound side.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was at the scene, along with the county sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification and Moonachie police, who handle Teterboro.
