Born in Nyack, NY, Armando aka Mandi was a "proud" Paterson resident of 35 years, who spent most of his career working in sales, most recently at Verizon in Butler, his obituary says.

A lifelong movie lover, Armando shared his opinions on film through his podcast, The DRD Show, which has nearly 200 episodes, according to his obituary. His final episode was a review of "The Penguin" starring Colin Farrell. He was also a car enthusiast, known for customizing and modifying his vehicles, including his "Blue Beast" Honda Accord and his Audi A5 and A6, which he personally vinyl-wrapped last summer, according to his obituary.

Beyond his hobbies, Armando was deeply committed to health and fitness, always researching clean ingredients and inspiring others to make healthier choices, his obituary says. A long-distance runner, he encouraged friends and family to participate in Nike Run App challenges, according to his obit.

A GoFundMe launched by his brother, Edward Mercado, raised over $19,000 as of press time, according to the fundraiser page.

“Armando got to see all the support from the fund and comments on social media. He was truly grateful for all the outreach,” the campaign states. “Our family is devastated by his loss but uplifted by seeing the impact he’s made on so many lives.”

A previous update on the fundraiser described Armando’s four-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer, noting his strength and resilience through it all.

“Let’s make sure Armando knows just how much he is loved,” the campaign said. "We love you 3000."

Condolences poured in on Instagram where Armando's death was announced.

"My deepest condolences to you and your loved ones during this difficult time. I had the distinct honor of working with Armando, and he was truly an incredible person," one person said. "His kindness, respectfulness, and vibrant spirit made a lasting impact on everyone around him. He had a way of bringing positivity into every situation, always treating others with warmth and sincerity. His presence brightened our workplace, and his dedication and energy were truly inspiring."

"Armando was the kindest soul, he truly recognised my music and made me feel heard even though only connecting on social media," another added. "I pray for his soul to have a peaceful and blessed life in heaven. 🕊️🤍."
