Police: Woman Struck By NJ Transit Bus In Hackensack

A 52-year-old female was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries after being struck by an NJ Transit bus in Hackensack, authorities said.

The woman was in the crosswalk headed eastbound across South Summit Avenue at Essex Street when she was struck by the passenger side of the bus turning from Essex onto South Summit southbound around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Hackensack Police Capt. Darrin Dewitt said.

"The driver heard a 'thump' sound and immediately stopped," the captain said.

The pedestrian was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital. No summonses were issued as of Wednesday morning.
