Orange County Law Makers Unanimously Approve $752 Million Budget

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – The Orange County Legislature unanimously approved a $752 million spending plan on Friday.

Under the 2018 budget, homeowners can expect property taxes to drop for the second consecutive year. The County will also have a fund balance of $43.7 million.

“I applaud the County Legislature for approving my proposed budget unanimously,” County Executive Steven Neuhaus said. “Over the past four years, my administration has worked successfully to stabilize County finances. I look forward to working with the Legislature to help grow Orange County’s economy and budget in a responsible way.”

The Office of the State Comptroller also removed the designation of “susceptible to fiscal stress” from Orange County, confirming the counties improving financial health. 

“I’m proud of this budget and have enjoyed working collaboratively with County Executive Neuhaus and his administration," Chairman of the Legislature Steve Brescia said. "This budget is fiscally responsible and benefits our residents. We will continue to find different ways to strengthen Orange County’s finances.”
