RIDGEFIELD PARK, N. J. -- The Bergen County Public Safety Institute is conducting fire officer training classes on Monday and Thursday nights through Dec. 10 at the Hazelton Avenue Firehouse in Ridgefield Park.
Candidates must be a firefighter already and have certification in hazardous material operations, Mat Ops, and incident management.
You also must have at least three years of certification as a firefighter.
The classes, held from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday, prepare firefighters for the state officer exam.
Each student must purchase Jones and a Bartlet Second Edition textbook and workbook through (800) 832-0034, www.jbpub.com or Amazon.com.
Chapter one must be read and lesson one of the workbook must be completed prior to the first day of classes.
The out-of-county fee is $575.
