The Bergen County Department of Parks is hosting the event in partnership with the Hackensack Riverkeeper.
This year’s event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the rain date is Sunday, May 15.
The highlight of the event is the Recycled Regatta. This event pits teams against one another in designing and building a human-powered craft out of ordinary household items which otherwise would be destined for landfills.
The day will also feature: A festival midway featuring environmental nonprofits, green vendors, animal rescue groups and healthy-living advocates; live entertainment; children’s activities including environmental education, face painting, fishing derby and more.
There will also be a variety food trucks, each featuring distinct fare; free paddling on Overpeck Lake courtesy of Hackensack Riverkeeper; and Learn-to-Row on Overpeck Lake courtesy of Bergen County Rowers Association.
Hackensack Riverkeeper is seeking sponsors, vendors and Regatta entrants. Sponsors will receive maximum exposure through a variety of attractive promotional packages, and vendors are projected to see double the foot traffic from last year’s estimate of 3,000 participants.
The event is a fundraiser for Hackensack Riverkeeper, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
