Driver Taken To Hospital As Car Flips, Takes Down Power Lines In Warren County
A driver was extricated and taken to a nearby hospital after a rollover crash caused entrapment and brought down several power lines in Warren County, authorities said. The Lopatcong Township Fire Company responded to the crash and confirmed a trapped driver in the overturned vehicle around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, the department said. A utility pole was knocked down in Flemington Wednesday morning, causing numerous residents to lose power, authorities said. The telephone pole was knocked down on Bloomfield Avenue shortly before 10 a.m., according to the Flemington Borough Office of Emergency Management. Bloomfield Avenue remained temporarily closed as JCP&L was responding to the outage report. It was not immediately clear what knocked the pole down, or when the power was expected to return. Sparking wires downed by the overnight storm Monday closed Sylvan Avenue in Englewood Cliffs in both directions and melted some of the roadway, authorities said. Route 9W remained closed past noon between Sage Road and Demarest Avenue while repairs were made, Detective Lt. Ronald F. Waldt said. Tractor-Trailer Topples Two Poles On Route 46, KOs Power To Teterboro Muni Building
A tractor-trailer downed two utility poles -- and with them two transformers -- Tuesday morning outside the Teterboro Municipal Building on westbound Route 46. Utility workers said they expect power to the building to remain out for the day and that it would likely be "well into the evening" before their work is completed, authorities said. The driver got out under his own steam and was OK following the early-morning crash across from Teterboro Airport, responders said. The cause wasn't immediately determined.
