One of the benefits average citizens forget, but police never overlook, is the outreach: In River Vale, it produced an afternoon to remember for a group of seniors.
River Vale Senior Friendship Club President Gloria Mikell gives River Vale P.O. Charles Gerbasio a token of the group’s appreciation
With a “generous discount” from the Estate at Florentine Gardens, River Vale police dished out an assortment of foods, salads, and desserts for more than 60 members of the Senior Friendship Club on Wednesday, Chief Michael J. McCann said.
The officers volunteer their time twice a year to the club, which remains in touch with Officer Charles Gerbasio throughout the year.
They “always look forward to these events,” Detective Sgt. John DeVoe said. “It’s nice to be able to interact with our seniors in such a casual setting.”
McCann said such dedication, both on and off duty, makes him proud.
