Mother, 9-Month-Old Son Killed As Car Plunges Into Central Jersey Pond: Police

UPDATE: A 30-year-old woman who was found dead inside of a car with her 9-month-old baby had been mourning the loss of her father.

Police responded to Stelton Road and Lakeview Avenue where officers found a vehicle in New Market Pond in Piscataway around 5:35 a.m., according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

Inside the car, authorities found two victims who were pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, the prosecutor said alongside Piscataway Police Chief Thomas Mosier.

The mother was later identified as Tamequa Robinson, 30, of Edison.

The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of autopsies by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is active and continuing.
