Elderly Driver Rams Minivan Into Westwood Home

WESTWOOD, N.J. -- An elderly driver who neighbors said shouldn't have been behind the wheel refused medical attention after he plowed a minivan into a Westwood home.

The driver was backing up from his home directly across the street around 7 p.m. July 30 when the vehicle accelerated into the house, witnesses told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He tried to free it and the van struck the house again, before the tires spun and dug in, they said.

The Emerson Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked him out, along with two children who were upstairs in the house and were shaken up by the crash
