The driver was backing up from his home directly across the street around 7 p.m. July 30 when the vehicle accelerated into the house, witnesses told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
He tried to free it and the van struck the house again, before the tires spun and dug in, they said.
The Emerson Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked him out, along with two children who were upstairs in the house and were shaken up by the crash
Emerson and Westwood police and Westwood firefighters responded, as did the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
