Bogota Volunteer Fire Department Hosts Blood Drive, Flapjack Fundraiser

BOGOTA, N.J.-- The Bogota Volunteer Fire Dept. Hook & Ladder Co. 1 and Engine Co. 1 are hosting their annual blood drive next Thursday.

The event will take place from 3-8 p.m. at the West Broad Street firehouse, next to police headquarters. 

The drive is co-sponsored by Community Blood Services, which will collect red blood cells and blood platelets, according to organizers. 

According to organizers, the blood cells are use for transfusions for anyone who needs to replenish their system due to an accident or surgery. Platelets are use to aid in blood clotting that are use for those going through cancer treatments or organ transplants.

Hook and Ladder Co. 1 is also hosting a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Applebee's in Hackensack. Tickets are $10 per person. The price includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and refreshments.

Proceeds will assist the department's operating budget, organizers said.
