Upper Nyack Father Of Four Dies After Crashing Porsche

An Upper Nyack father of four died on Saturday after crashing a Porsche into a utility pole in the Hamptons, according to the East Hampton Town Police.

Edward "Eddie" Henry Reich, 54, of Upper Nyack died on Saturday after a crash at Three Mile Harbor/Hog Creek Road near Gardiners Lane in East Hampton.

Edward "Eddie" Henry Reich, 54, was driving in East Hampton on 3:22 p.m. on Three Mile Harbor/Hog Creek Road near Gardiners Lane, when he veered off the road and hit a utility pole, East Hampton Police said. He was pronounced dead at Southampton Hospital.

Reich, of Reich Furs in New York City, was driving the 1987 Porsche north when he hit the pole. Springs firefighters pulled Reich and his passenger, Robert Kostro, 54, of Springs, out of the vehicle. Kostro was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police have impounded the car for safety checks and the crash is under investigation.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Stratigakes Reich; children, Dylan, Tori, Nicholas and Jake Reich; parents, Richard and Virginia Reich of New City; sister, Debbie Reich Guarino (Tony); sister, Melissa Reich Broughton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St. in New City. Interment will be private.
