HILLSDALE, N.J. – The owners of Demarest Farms in Hillsdale have file a lawsuit against the borough, saying the borough’s new restrictions on street parking near the farm violate their right to farm, NorthJersey.com reports .
In June, the Borough Council adopted an ordinance prohibiting parking on 37 nearby streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Aug. 30 through Oct. 30.
The restrictions coincide with the farm’s busy “pick your own season,” the story says. Council members and Mayor Douglas Frank have said the restrictions are in response to safety concerns raised by police, the story says.
