At 6-months old, Grace Skuches was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid/Rhabidiod Tumor, a rare and difficult to treat pediatric brain tumor.
Grace has completed five rounds of chemotherapy, a stem cell harvest and three stem cell rescues. In December, it was determined Grace had “no evidence of disease." But in January, the toddler had facial paralysis ultimately determined to be caused by a recurrent tumor.
She has received 15 blood transfusions and 18 platelet transfusions during her various surgeries and chemotherapies.
The blood drive is from 2-8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 79 Pascack Road, Washington Township. Walk-ins are welcome, while appointments can be made at www.tinyurl.com/Giving4Gracie. Donors need to bring ID. Eligibility information is available at (800) 933-2566.
