Sprint For River Vale's Spectrum Aids People With Special Needs

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Runners and walkers are gearing up for Saturday's Spectrum Sprint in Ridgefield Park to raise money for Spectrum for Living, a New Jersey nonprofit aimed at helping adults live with developmental disabilities.

The Spectrum Sprint 5K and 1K Fun Run takes place Oct. 15 in Ridgefield Park.

Set at Overpeck Park, the event starts with a kick-off 1K Kid's Fun Run at 10 a.m., followed by a 5K run/walk at 10:15 a.m.

There will be awards for several age categories along with top male and female finishers in the 5K. The Fun Run is open to children ages 12 and younger.

Race officials encourage individuals and teams to participate. The cost to enter the 5K is $25; it is $15 for the Fun Run. For details or to register by the Thursday deadline, visit the race's website

Spectrum for Living provides a variety of services to adults with developmental disabilities, including job training, health care, recreation and housing. The organization operates several facilities throughout New Jersey, including housing in Closter and River Vale.
