Palisades Park Vehicle Owner Thrown From His Car Chases Thieves
A Palisades Park owner got thrown from his car as he tried to stop a trio of thieves in his driveway, authorities said. The Glen Avenue resident saw something going on in his driveway and ran out to find the thieves in his car, said Capt. Anthony Muccio, the department’s officer in charge. He hung on to the vehicle to try and stop them but fell off as they sped away, Muccio said. The resident, who’d sustained some scrapes and bruises, flagged down another motorist and together they chased the vehicle to dead-ended Fifth Street. The thieves tried pulling onto a grass median but hit a park…

Home and business surveillance cameras helped identify Vaughan in all of the Nov. 4 incidents, Detective Sgt. James M. DePreta said. He was known to police, having been charged with 18 car burglaries in less than a month last year in Rochelle Park. Vaughan got into eight cars this time -- taking whatever he could get his hands on -- and failed to ente…

Someone apparently removed a first-floor window at an Ellsworth Terrace residence before taking several pieces of jewelry from the homeowner’s and daughter’s bedrooms sometime last week, police said. “That window may have been left unlocked, allowing access to the bedroom once the screen was removed,” Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Around 7 p.m. Friday, residents who summoned police to a Stonefield Road home said the…

Hackensack PD: Surveillance Video Nails $12,000 Burglary Suspect
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Surveillance cameras pay off once again: Hackensack detectives on Friday nabbed an ex-con who they said took nearly $12,000 in jewelry and cash in an apartment burglary. The victims told police they returned to their apartment Wednesday to find it ransacked, Capt. Peter Busciglio said. There were also pry marks on the door, he said. Reviewing security footage from the apartment complex, an investigator recognized 54-year-old Raymond Rouland, Busciglio said. Detectives went to Elizabeth, where they arrested Rouland without incident, the captain said. Rouland -- whose c…
