HOFFMAN FIELD AT ROSSI MEMORIAL PARK
Hoffman Field will reopen in just over a week after being closed for renovations since late August.
Spearheaded by Councilman Michael Staff, a $40,000 open space grant and approximately $100,000 taxpayer dollars funded the improvements to Hoffman Field which include:
- a new drainage system in the infield
-a Cooperstown-approved pitcher's mound
-a knee wall along the back of the field and new bleachers
-a fixed-lip in the infield
-a new handicapped parking spot near the base of the field
-a concrete a path leading from the parking lot to the field.
-seeding of the outfield in Spring 2016
Staff hopes to host tournaments at the U9, U10 and U11 little league baseball field.
"A lot of work went into this big project — bringing Hoffman field forward and modernizing it and getting better usage out of it," he said. "It really needed it... it was tired."
MUEHLECK LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD AT MEMORIAL FIELD
Muehleck Field will be closed Nov. 7 while the field is ripped up and re-sodded. The sod being laid is the same sod that was used in Yankee Stadium — East Coast Sod — longtime Oradell resident and project organizer Jay Haviland said.
Haviland and other parents of the borough's U12, U13 and U14 little league teams raised $6,000 for improvements to the Muehleck Little League Field.
