RIVER EDGE, N.J. — No matter what, Joanna Angel of River Edge has her birthday off of from work.
The Jewish, alternative pornographic actress was born on Christmas, and will be turning 37 on Monday.
"“I love having a birthday on Christmas — not like I have a choice in the matter,” Angel told The New York Post's Page Six.
“I love it mostly because I can actually really enjoy my birthday. No matter what job I’ve had in life, I have the day off.”
Angel graduated from River Dell High in 1998, and worked at a kosher fast food restaurant in Teaneck on the side.
During college at Rutgers, she worked at an Applebee's and another restaurant before graduating with her Bachelor's -- a degree in English and a minor in film studies.
After moving to Brooklyn, Angel collaborated with Mitch Fontaine the website BurningAngel -- a hardcore adult site catering to an emerging genre dubbed alt porn, while she danced as a stripper at night.
Her website followed in the footsteps of the very popular SuicideGirls, which she has referred to as "the McDonald's of alt porn."
When asked whether she thought that alt porn was turning into a movement she said, "I think it's a movement. I think I've started something."
