Michael McCabe, 49, was riding north on Route 9 and the southbound vehicle driven by 55-year-old Anne Danza of Forked River was turning left into Sunset Plaza at 5:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, Lacey police said.

McCabe, a life member of the Bayville First Aid Squad, died of the injuries he suffered in the crash, police said.

Lacey Township EMS and RWJ Paramedics responded to the scene.

“Mike was always known for his happy and cheerful personality that lit up a room when he walked in and regardless of any situation, he always kept a positive mindset that was influential on many,” the Bayville EMS said on Facebook. “He loved helping his community and really valued what he was able to do for people in any way.

“Mike was a big advocate for our squad and many other emergency service organizations and he was able to do many great things to support us all through the Knights of the Inferno Motorcycle Club Mother Chapter, which he was also a proud member of. Most of all, Mike was so proud of his kids and family which he always talked about the most," Bayvile EMS wrote.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

The collision remains under investigation by Patrolman Michael Hyle and Jason Lee. Anyone with information regarding the incident, please contact Patrolman Hyle at 609-693-6636, or email him at mhyle@laceypd.org.
