Beloved Jersey Shore Native, Marine Academy Grad Molly Lada Dies, 19

Beloved Jersey Shore native and marine academy graduate Molly J. Lada died in Santa Barbara, California, on Thursday, Oct. 27. She was 19.

Described as an “incredibly kind and strong” member of the community, more than $26,300 had been raised on a GoFundMe launched for Molly Lada's funeral expenses before donations had been shut off.

Born in Brick Township, Molly grew up in Point Pleasant, her obituary says.

Molly graduated from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) in 2021 and was a devoted member of St. Peter’s R.C. Church in Point Pleasant Beach, according to her memorial.

She was a freshman studying biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Molly is survived by her loving parents, Debbie and John Lada; her sister, Shayne Lada; her maternal grandparents, Joanne and Edward Zahn; as well as many extended family members and close friends who will cherish her memory forever.

“Molly Lada was an incredibly kind and strong member of our community,” reads the fundraiser. “Her sudden passing has affected her friends, family, and peers who loved her deeply...Molly touched so many people with her light.”

Molly’s funeral was held at St. Peter’s Church in Point Pleasant Beach on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

“Molly was beautiful, kind and fun,” reads a tribute on Molly’s obituary. “May her light still shine bright in all the people she knew and loved. Let us always remember her.”
