At about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Brick Patrol Officer Kyle Patrick, K-9 Officer Scott Smith, Ptl. Kyle Dudak and Ptl. John Sullivan were dispatched to Collins Court in the Green Briar section of the township for a motor vehicle burglary in progress, according to a department spokeswoman.

A caller reported that there were two unknown subjects attempting to burglarize motor vehicles in the neighborhood, according to Ptl. Victoria Finelli.

The suspects reportedly were observed entering vehicles, she said. It is suspected that the subjects entered as many as 20 vehicles and the investigation is ongoing, Finelli said Thursday.

As Ptl. Patrick arrived, he observed a vehicle occupied by two men that allegedly matched the description of the subjects provided to dispatchers, Finelli said..

The vehicle was stopped and the occupants were identified as Ryan Payesko, 27, and Nicolas Massimi, 28, both from Toms River.

Further investigation at the scene of the stop as well as at the scene of the crime led to the arrest of Payesko and Massimi and multiple charges including possession of heroin, according to Finelli.

Payesko was charged with possession of brass knuckles, theft of moveable property, burglary, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of heroin. Payesko also was issued a traffic summons for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

Massimi was charged with heft of moveable property, burglary and several drug offenses including possession of heroin and hypodermic needles.

Both suspects were being held in the Ocean County Jail.
