WEST MILFORD, N.J. – A West Milford boy came home from school to find a burglar in his house, say police who arrested the accused intruder soon after.
Austin Demarest, 21, of Hewitt had taken jewelry, collectible coins and loose change from the unlocked Riverside Road home when the youngster interrupted him on Tuesday, police said.
Demarest is also “the primary and only suspect in two other burglaries in the same area,” West Milford police said.
He remained held on $500 bail Sunday in the Passaic County Jail.
Meanwhile, an investigation was continuing.
