Charles Huber and Angelo Calabro became the department's newest lieutenants, Capt. Ken Fackina said. Both officers will work rotating shifts to provide an added layer of supervision and manpower during the evening and daytime hours, Fackina said.
"We are very proud of them and wish them the best of luck in their future duties," Fackina said. "Both officers have certainly earned their promotions."
Huber is a lifelong Wanaque resident who was hired in 1990. He became a sergeant in 1998 and received numerous awards in his career, Fackina said. He previously served as an investigator in the detective bureau, firearms instructor, police academy drill and physical fitness instructor, supervisor of the traffic unit, and member of the department's honor guard.
Huber is also active in borough youth programs. As lieutenant, he will supervise dispatchers, crossing guards, special officers, the records department and training.
Calabro, also a lifelong Wanaque resident, joined the force in 1996. He previously worked for the Passaic County Sheriff's Office.
He became a sergeant in 2007 and served as supervisor of the traffic unit, liaison to the county and state traffic officer associations, and as the borough's alcohol control officer.
Calabro will now be in charge of the patrol division, Fackina said.
