WANAQUE, N.J. -- A report that a suicidal 14-year-old boy might have a weapon forced a shelter in place Wednesday morning at Wanaque Elementary School and Lakeland Regional High School proved unfounded, authorities said.
Police found the boy, who'd fled the elementary school, and "learned that he did not possess any weapons" after the 9:12 a.m. call from school officials, Capt. Kenneth Fackina said.
He also said he wasn't suicidal, the captain said.
Family members responded and accompanied the boy for an evaluation.
"At no time were any threats made and no students were considered to be in danger," Fackina said.
