“The weather forecast is predicted to be sunny and a FRIGID 61 degrees,” Bogota Police Chief John C. Burke warned plungers.

You don’t have to jump into the cold water to support law enforcement’s efforts to help Special Olympics New Jersey provide free year-round training and competition in 24 Olympic-type sports to more than 22,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

You can donate and attend. There is also an  “After-Plunge Bash,” with food, refreshments, entertainment and a tricky tray.

And if you’re interested, Ringwood State Park and Skylands Botanical Gardens are right nearby. Bring the kids and make a day of it.
