Long Island Man Rearrested For Stealing From Vehicles

A Long Island man caught on camera earlier this month breaking into multiple cars on Long Island was rearrested, police said.

Bay Shore resident Henry Sanders, 37, was initially arrested by Suffolk County Police investigators on Tuesday, Feb. 11, following reports of multiple auto larcenies in Bay Shore.

Police said that Sanders was observed on security camera footage that was submitted to investigators by residents taking items from at least five cars between Thursday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Items were reportedly taken from parked cars in Bay Shore at these places and dates:

  • Sunset Road on Feb. 6;
  • Oakland Avenue on Feb. 7;
  • 1st Avenue on Feb. 9;
  • Sunny Lane on Feb. 11;
  • Aberdeen Road on Feb. 11.

At that time, Sanders was charged with five counts of petit larceny. 

On Monday, Feb. 17, police announced that it was determined that Sanders was responsible for four more thefts from vehicles, also in Bay Shore:

  • Two vehicles on Thompson Drive on Feb. 9;
  • Hampshire Road on Feb. 10;
  • Chapman Place on Feb. 10. 

Sanders, of Bay Shore, has now been charged with four more counts of petit larceny. 

He was issued a desk appearance ticket and scheduled for arraignment at a later date.
