Ramon Rivera Jr., 23, who authorities said recently moved to Haledon, remained held on $150,000 bail in the Passaic County Jail, charged with various drug and weapons counts.

"I commend my officers for executing these search warrants flawlessly and removing a stolen handgun and contraband off our streets," said Deputy Police Chief Angelo J. Daniele, the depattment's commanding officer. "We encourage the community to report any criminal activity -- we vow to tirelessly continue protecting our borough."

Lt. George Guzman said the arrest and seizures came from a team effort between the patrol and detective units that required both "patience and precision."

The team, led by Guzman and Detective Tim Lindbergn, hit Rivera's apartment in the 30 block of Barbour Street and a Storage Unit at "A" Self Storage last Thursday, the lieutenant said.

"The raids yielded 450 envelopes of heroin, raw heroin, packaging material and digital scale, a stolen, loaded .45-caliber handgun, hollow-point bullets, body armor penetrating bullets, bullet-proof vest with steel plates, and ten (10) burner cellular phones," Daniele said.

Police also seized several hundred dollars in drug proceeds, the deputy chief said.
