Member Tim Scott, an outgoing captain for Co. 51, suggested the firefighters come together for something special. In an informal ceremony, the captains leaving each company pin the bars on the incoming captains, denoting the position.

The department started the pinning ceremony for the incoming 2016 captains, which include Derrek Mangin and Bill Breur Jr.

Pompton Lakes Volunteer Fire Department has about 62 members serving a lake community of about 11,000. They drill every Monday evening and anyone interested in joining the department should stop by or e-mail Chief Ron Fusaro at plfdchief@optonline.net.
