State officials ordered the cleanup of contaminated groundwater nearly three decades ago when PCE and TCE were discovered after solvents were dumped near a munitions facility. One clean up solution would involve pumping fresh water into the area to flush out the contaminants, while the other would involve the introduction of chemicals that would make the contaminants harmless, NorthJersey.com said.
