The borough started its street of the week program around a year ago for residents to chime in on issues facing their neighborhood.
Putting a request in for a street also typically leads to an increased police patrol in the area, which the borough website says discourages bad behavior.
Officer Steve Smith, who coordinates the program, said people seem to appreciate being heard.
"I think it has a positive impact on the community," Smith told Daily Voice. "People see us out there and we try to address the complaint best we can."
Most of the concerns involve speeding on various side streets in Bloomingdale, Smith said.
One of the program's goals is to increase the public's confidence in the police department by seeing officers out on the streets more.
The form asks for the street name, type of concern such as motor vehicle, suspicious activity, ordinance violation or animal complaint, and an additional message.
