BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- Bloomingdale Mayor John Dunleavy has announced January will be Radon Action Month for the borough.

The initiative is in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

"Radon is a serious health risk," Dunleavy said. "It is the second-leading cause of lung cancer – and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers."

Bloomingdale will provide information on radon for residents at the clerk's office, 101 Hamburg Turnpike.
