Davie prides herself in writing "hard" science fiction, a genre that prioritizes accuracy.

"I couldn't write it if it weren't true," she told Daily Voice. "Literally my mind puts on the brakes."

Davie's technical background from working as a chemist and in IT, plus her interest in theoretical physics, helped her writing. She wrote her first science fiction book in 2005, "Sanacion, the Black Hole Mission."

Her "Sanacion" series has two more entries and Davie said she's working on two more stories, plus a screen play.

Her parents infused a love of reading into her.

"Everybody had a book in their hand at all times," she said of her family.

Davie, who moved to West Milford 20 years ago, didn't start reading science fiction until around 10 years ago. Some of her favorite works include "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury and the writing of Arthur C. Clarke.

Davie attends conventions to talk about her writing and science fiction. She said she's met a lot of interesting people along the way, including employees of NASA.
