REPORT: These Passaic County Spots Among Poorest In New Jersey

PASSAIC, N.J. – Three towns in Bergen County and two in Passaic are among the 35 poorest in New Jersey, according to a list released by NJ.com.

The rankings are based on data on median household income from the U.S. Census Bureau, as well as poverty rates, the story says. 

Here are the Bergen and Passaic County spots that made the list, along with their rankings, median household incomes and the percent of households below the poverty line, according to the article.

  • 35: Fairview (Median income: $54,177; Percent below poverty: 16.4)
  • 34: Lodi (Median income: $53,807; Percent below poverty: 15.3)
  • 24:  Garfield (Median income: $48,254; Percent below poverty: 18.6)
  • 5: Paterson (Median income: $34,042; Percent below poverty: 29.1)
  • 4: Passaic (Median income: $33,859; Percent below poverty: 31.9)

Camden City came in at number one, with a median income of $26,214 and 38.4 percent of households living below the poverty level, the story says.
