The Teen Center has is open during the school year Monday through Friday 3-10 p.m. and 1-10 p.m. during the summer months. The Center is for kids the summer after finishing fifth grade, through 10th grade. The Center also offers adult men's basketball, for 17-23-year-olds, every Tuesday and Wednesday night, from 8-10 p.m.
The Center has a game room with two flat-screen TV's, pool and a ping-pong table. The gym is also open for basketball, dodgeball, wiffle ball and soccer. There are also special events during the year, including theme dances, movie nights and sports tournaments.
Registration is required at a yearly fee of $25, and snacks and drinks are available at a minimal cost. The Center is chaperoned at all times by at least two counselors at least 18 years old.
To register for the spring and summer rec session, do so online here, or at one of these sessions:
- Thursday, April 7th, 7-8:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 21st, 7-8:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 28th, 7-8 p.m.
- Saturday, April 30th, 7-8:30 p.m.
Registration will take place at the Teen Center, 247 Wanaque Ave. (Behind the Smiling Rhino Theater in the "Pondhole). You can also find applications at the Teen Center generally or at the Borough Hall.
The Rec Department is also now accepting applications for summer jobs including summer camp counselors, paddle boat supervisors and Teen Center supervisors. You can pick up applications at the Teen Center or Borough Hall, and drop off completed applications in the blue mail box at Borough Hall. The application deadline is April 30.
