Beyond Pumpkin: Passaic County Bakeries Dish Up Thanksgiving Pies

PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. -- A good pie can remedy any Thanksgiving meal, including any and all dysfunctional family dynamics.

Sweeten the day with to-go options that are as good as Grandma used to make -- and quite probably better. Just order early (as is now); Nov. 26 will be here before you know it.

Gencarelli's Bakery (321 Valley Rd., Wayne, 973- 872-0500)Pecan, sweet pie, lemon meringue, apple pie, apple crumb and pumpkin are on the menu here where you can pick up a pie Thanksgiving day anytime between 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. No orders necessary!

Gourmet Desserts (851 Van Houten Ave, Clifton, 973-815-1111) offers bourbon pecan, sweet potato, cherry, coconut cream and pumpkin and is open Thanksgiving day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

2 Sweet Cake Shop (279 Browertown Rd, Woodland Park, 973- 638-1973): This adorable shop with the "too cute" name features apple and pumpkin pies for the holiday. Orders being taken until Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Pompton Lakes Bakery (117 Wanaque Ave,. Pompton Lakes, 973- 835-2381) has a host of pies including apple, cherry, blueberry, pecan and pumpkin. Order by Sunday, Nov. 22.
