WEST MILFORD, N.J. -- It’s impossible to live here and not have a bagel opinion. The New York area, as everyone knows, is the bagel capital of the world. And yes, it’s worth waiting in line on a Sunday morning to get one of these doughy wonders fresh out of the oven. Toasting, as a bagel purist knows, is not necessary when you buy the very best.
Who Has The Best Bagels In Passaic County?
- Bagel Town Cafe, West Milford
- Plaza Bagel and Deli, Clifton
- Sam’s Bagel & Deli, Wayne
We asked for your favorites and now have three contestants in the running. Each is being profiled this week as part of our ongoing DVlicious contest. Here’s the lowdown on one who made the cut.
Bagel Town Cafe, 1614 Union Valley Rd., West Milford, (973) 657-0161
What Makes Them Bagelicious: All bagels are hand-rolled the old-fashioned way; no machinery here!
Crazy Flavors: Expect the usual flavors such as plain, multi-grain, onion, everything, sesame, poppy, garlic, cinnamon raisin, blueberry, salt and pumpernickel. On weekdays the cafe also offers a cinnamon sugar and on weekends, a French toast option. Cream cheese also comes in from 11 to 12 varieties including a Buffalo cream cheese with crumbled blue cheese and hot sauce, a bacon horseradish cheddar, and a strawberry cream cheese that one customer comes from three towns over to get.
Reminder: The contest ends Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m. You can vote multiple times, albeit once per day.
