The Friends of Wallisch Homestead are working to restore the endangered historic site. And they are inviting the public to the farm on Saturday, Oct. 29, to make homemade folk art scarecrows and tell ghost stories around a campfire.
Scarecrow making will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the funniest, most classic and scariest scarecrows, as well as for best in show.
People are encouraged to bring ready-made scarecrows that will be installed at the farm. If they cannot make one beforehand, items will be on hand to make one at the farm. People are welcome to bring donations of old clothing and accessories to be used on scarecrows.
For the after-dark ghost-story portion of the event, people are encouraged to bring camp chairs, flashlights and bug repellent.
The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 30.
