Debra Sanford runs California Tortilla in Montvale with her daughter Lindsey. Her other daughter Lauren will operate out of the River Edge branch set to open March 30.

"It's very rewarding to see my daughters work at the business," Debra Sanford told Daily Voice. "It's just a really nice thing. It's nice to know business is with one of your family members, it's not just some strangers."

The Montvale location on Chestnut Ridge Road opened in January 2015 and Lyndsey Sanford came aboard then. She worked in many different restaurants before but said it has a better feel with family.

"There's always going to be good and bad days when you have your family working together," she said. "But at the end of the day it's easier than working with someone else."

Lyndsey Sanford also said the customers make it all worth it too.

California Tortilla serves Mexican food in burritos or bowls using fresh ingredients. It has locations in seven states and Washington, D.C.

The River Edge store will be located on Main Street in the New Bridge Shopping Center. Customers will have a chance to win free burritos for a year at the grand opening March 30.

"I did a grand opening [in Montvale] so it's going to be the same thing just a lot more people," Lauren Sanford said. "When we opened this nobody knew the name yet. We're just pretty much trying to build a name in New Jersey."
