BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. — Alcohol from around the country can now be found in Bloomingdale with the opening of The River of Beer on Main Street.
The Soule family held a soft opening of the bar earlier this month. The wait now is just for the kitchen to open, according to co-owner Dave Soule.
River of Beer aims for a craft atmosphere, with Belgium selections and specialties from Montana, Pennsylvania and other areas.
"There's not really a viable outlet for [craft] in the area," Soule told Daily Voice. "The next one is a half-hour away."
The Soule family hails from nearby Kinnelon. Soule said his tastes always geared toward craft beers and after working as a chef for nine years, he knew he wanted to open his own place.
The kitchen will hopefully open within the next few weeks, Soule said, and then they will consider a grand opening event.
Soule said the bar will have additional features like trivia and game nights, a fire pit and a pingpong table.
The bar can be found at the site of the former Fred's Deli, and more recently a nail salon.
The River of Beer has been two years in the making, a fun but chaotic process according to Soule.
"All shades of emotion come through in opening a business," he said, "especially a restaurant."
