The week-long tournament featured teams from 58 countries. The Bergen County boys – representing Harrington Park, Norwood and Old Tappan – squared off against squads from Spain, Italy and China.

NVSC played seven games in six days and lost a penalty shootout to a La Roda, Spain team.

"It was a great experience for the kids playing against international competition," NVSC Coach Cort Gwon said. "Most of these kids started with this team as seven- and eight-year-olds, so it was a proud moment to see them compete on the international stage."
