OLD TAPPAN, N.J. — The Old Tappan Education Association and supporters rallied outside of Charles De Wolf Middle School on Tuesday evening while teachers on the negotiation committee met with board members and an assigned mediator over a contract dispute.

The board and the OTEA were in talks during the spring until negotiations stalled and the union filed a notice of impasse in August, northjersey.com reported.

OTEA President Matt Capilli told northjersey.com that the board's offers during negotiations were insulting.

An OTEA flier distributed on back to school night said combined raises for the two administrators over a six-year period were 37.4 percent, northjersey.com said. The union claimed the combined average raises for each teacher in the district during the same period was 12.4 percent, according to norhtjersey.com.
