OLD TAPPAN, N.J. — Northern Valley Regional School District is recognizing National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week that runs from Jan. 25 to 31.
The national health observance for teens promotes local events using NIDA science to shatter the myths about drugs.
Authorities at the school recommend that students and their families consul an online guide that discusses drug abuse.
School officials also suggest reaching out to Care Plus NJ, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Paramus.
CareOne provides comprehensive, recovery-focused integrated primary and mental health care and substance abuse rehabilitation services. It has facilities throughout the region.
“CarePlus, a local non-profit agency, is an incredible resource to support mental health, recovery and well-being,” Director of Guidance Matthew P. Spatz told Daily Voice.
"They have such programs as: a wellness group for teenage girls, a ‘parenting with common sense’ class for parents and a ‘freedom from anxiety’ group that helps teens learn coping skills — among many others."
